  • Acne prone skin
  • Scars
  • Dehydration
  • Rough texture
  • Uneven Skin tone
  • Enlarged and clogged pores

Types of Peels

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s), such as glycolic and lactic, are the group of acids that are derived from foods. The fundamental benefits attributed to AHA’s, is the normalization of skin functions, by increasing cellular turnover, achieving appropriate hydration levels by increasing moisture retention and promoting collagen deposition. In addition to the reduction of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, severe dryness and sun damage resulting in healthier, softer, smoother, more hydrated, glowing skin.

Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA’s) include Salicylic Acid which is the most widely used BHA and is extracted from the bark of the willow tree. Salicylic acid works by causing the outer layer to shed, it is oil-loving and has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Making salicylic acid great for acne prone skin and beneficial in reducing the appearance of fine lines, while improving skin texture, thickness, barrier function and collagen production.

Modified Jessner’s is a combination of acids including salicylic, lactic and phenol. This combination of acids is excellent for mild to moderate, stubborn discoloration, uneven texture and aging skin. This chemical peel penetrates deep to boost clarity and radiance.

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is used to improve:

  • acne scars
  • surgical scars
  • fine line and wrinkles
  • stretch marks
  • texture and tone

Microneedling is performed by using tiny needles that creat micro channels in the skin. The procedure stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a thicker dermis and softened wrinkles and scars.

Hyaluronic acid and Biopelle Stem Cell Technology may be used in conjunction with microneedling to decrease healing time and provide optimal results. The microneedling depth is adjustable depending on area and condition being treated. At Madrona Dermatology each treatment is customized to your specific skin care needs.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that gently removes the top layer of dull dead skin cells and vellus hair, revealing a soft, smooth and brighter complexion. Dermaplaning can be performed by itself or prior to a chemical peel allowing for better penetration of the acid or as part of a facial.
